**You dirty rat!**

It’s high time to send that notorious rodent—beloved by film aficionados—an offer it can’t refuse: a one-way ticket to the great beyond at the hands of Orkin’s expert exterminators. And if you thought household pests were clever, wait until you see how smart Orkin really is!

DDB Chicago’s latest campaign brings **Orkin’s message to life** through a delightful array of quirky puppet characters. Each puppet delivers a pint-sized performance that illustrates just how outsmarted these pests really are.

**A Four-Part Puppet Extravaganza**

First up, we meet the **menacing mosquitoes**—little creatures that won’t stand a chance against the Orkin pros:

“Collaborating with Orkin’s team of entomologists allowed us to craft a campaign steeped in scientific accuracy,” states Colin Selikow, the agency’s CCO. “We aimed to strike a balance between credibility and imaginative storytelling that’s both visually striking and unexpected.”

Next on the pest parade, we see some **roaches getting nicely toasted**:

“Our inspiration came from those unforgettable old-school Orkin commercials featuring pests with big personalities,” says GCD Amy Gozalka. “We wanted to evolve this idea, presenting hyper-realistic pests with compelling narratives. These aren’t your average nuisances; they are cunning, self-assured, and utterly convinced that your home belongs to them—until Orkin steps in.”

**Backstories Infused with Humor and Realism**

To deepen the narrative with humor, each pest has been given a fully fleshed-out backstory. They are far **from cute**; rather, they are gritty characters, far too comfortable in spaces where they don’t belong.

Among these antagonists is the villainous vermin—our bad boy of the critter world:

“Every script draws from real behavioral facts; for example, rats are expert burglars, cockroaches have a penchant for beer, and mosquitos couldn’t care less about bug zappers,” Gozalka elaborates. This unique approach serves as a springboard for storytelling.

And who could forget the **termites?** Spoiler alert: they ultimately bite the dust! (Pun definitely intended.)

**Meticulous Design and Captivating Characterization**

Arch Model Studio, known for its collaborations reminiscent of **Wes Anderson’s artistry**, meticulously designed the puppets. “Every detail—from mandibles to antennae to hairy legs—was crafted to balance scientific accuracy with a delightful grotesqueness,” Gozalka explains. The intricate process spanned two months and involved everything from sketching to final puppetry.

But there’s more! Orkin’s creative team took innovation a step further by casting live-action actors for each puppet character. This unique choice allowed the subtle nuances of performance to shine, syncing beautifully with the movements of the puppets for maximum comedic effect.

Directed by **Arts & Sciences’ Adam Brodie and Dave Derewlany**, these commercials are set to air throughout the summer, with notable placements during **NHL playoff games.** Talk about prime-time pest control!
