Women’s Golf Shines on Day Two of The Chevron Silverado Showdown
The Wildcats’ women’s golf team showcased their tenacity on Day Two of The Chevron Silverado Showdown, moving up four spots on the leaderboard to finish the round in sixth place overall. With a solid performance of 2-over par, they proved their determination to excel, significantly narrowing the gap to the leaders. Currently, they trail USC, who leads the pack at even par, by 14 strokes.
Stellar Individual Performances
Leading the charge for the Wildcats was the remarkable Lilas Pinthier, who delivered a jaw-dropping round of 70—the standout performance for Arizona. Pinthier’s exceptional skills were on full display as she stormed through her first nine holes, sinking three birdies and achieving a hole-in-one on the par-three 17th. Her exceptional play has placed her in solid contention, as she holds the second-best par-three scoring average among the competitors and is currently tied for 11th place on the individual leaderboard.
Another notable contributor was Carolina Melgrati, who rebounded from a disappointing first round to shoot an impressive even par today. Meanwhile, Charlotte Back battled through the day, finishing at 3-over par but ending on a high note with back-to-back birdies, showcasing her resilience. Both Melgrati and Back currently sit together in a tie for 34th place.
Showing Strength in Numbers
Adding to the collective effort, Nena Wongthanavimok and Julia Misemer both carded rounds of 74, bringing them to 6-over par after 36 holes. Misemer made a dramatic finish with an eagle on the 18th hole, providing a thrilling conclusion to her round. Maria Cabanillas isn’t far behind, tied for 30th place at 4-over par. After beginning with a 1-under par round on Day One, she too salvaged her performance by sealing her day with an eagle on the final hole.
A Competitive Edge
The Wildcats drastically improved their game, shooting 10 shots better than their first round, showcasing their ability to adapt and grow during the tournament. They currently lead the entire field in pars made and rank second in eagles—a true testament to their strategic play. Moreover, their collective performance has them tied for the second-best par-three scoring average after two rounds, highlighting their efficiency on the course.
