Syracuse’s Recent Performance and Road to Redwood Shores
Syracuse, the proud defending ACC champions, is coming off a challenging competition at the Cayuga Cup, where they finished second behind No. 5 Yale. Despite falling short, the Orange have shown resilience and determination throughout the season, maintaining a position ranked either No. 10 or 11 in all five editions of the CRCA Coaches Poll. Their upcoming races represent a crucial opportunity to demonstrate growth and strength against top-tier opponents.
Stanford and California: Strong Rivals Await
The road ahead is not easy. Stanford, which claimed the runner-up spot at last year’s NCAA Championship, has consistently held the No. 2 ranking. Their impressive performance this spring includes a sweeping victory against No. 3 ranked Tennessee in four races. Meanwhile, California, ranked No. 8, has proven formidable with consistent finishes, including a solid showing at the San Diego Crew Classic.
Both teams have a storied tradition of success, collectively amassing six national championships, and this will be Syracuse’s first competitive venture in California since the 2016 NCAA Championship.
Beyond the Race: Spectator Information
For fans eager to support their teams, Redwood Shores offers excellent viewing opportunities for the 2,000-meter race. Spectators are encouraged to position themselves either at the bridge just past the 1,000-meter mark (Google Maps Location) or at the finish line in front of the Grand Bay Hotel. While designated parking is unavailable, there are options beneath the bridge on Bridge Parkway and in the surrounding neighborhood.
