Celebrating Academic Excellence in Swimming: Three Women Make the CSC Academic All-District® Team
Greenwood, Ind. – In an incredible achievement that highlights both athletic prowess and academic dedication, three standout swimmers from Centenary College have been named to the 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District® Women’s Swimming & Diving Team. The athletes honored are junior Adriana de la Fuente from Baton Rouge, La., and sophomores Reese Esser from Huntsville, Texas, and Sydney Welch from Moss Bluff, La. This recognition was announced by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
A Testament to Hard Work and Dedication
Adriana de la Fuente, celebrating this honor for the second consecutive year, showcases the fantastic combination of athletic talent and academic excellence. For both Reese Esser and Sydney Welch, this marks their inaugural recognition, underscoring the bright futures they have ahead in both the pool and the classroom. All three women also proudly represent Centenary College as members of the prestigious Winter SCAC Academic Honor Roll.

The Academic All-District® honorees will move forward to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot, where they could potentially be celebrated as first-, second-, or third-team Academic All-America® honorees. Announcements for these prestigious awards are expected later this month.

This initiative is further bolstered by the support of the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, which help facilitate the rewards and recognition for student-athletes across these divisions. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program also receives similar assistance from its governance structure, reinforcing the importance of academics in sports.
