Fixes in the Beta Channel

File Explorer Improvements

  • Visibility Enhancements: We’ve made minor tweaks to enhance the visibility of keyboard focus indicators in the Open and Save dialogue navigation buttons, now sporting a darker border for improved clarity.

Settings Fixes

  • Performance Resolved: An issue causing the Settings app to hang at the “If you’ve been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?” option under Accounts > Sign-in Options has been fixed, allowing for smoother adjustments.

Known Issues

Insights on the Start Menu

Attention Windows Insiders! We’re aware of a few glitches regarding the new grid and category views in the Start menu:

  • Context Menu Flashing: When right-clicking on an app, you may notice a brief flash of the "Start settings" context menu before the app’s context menu appears.

Important Reminders for Beta Channel Insiders

  • Update Path: Insiders on Windows 11, version 23H2 will receive updates through an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx) that helps ensure a seamless upgrade experience.
  • Features in the Beta Channel are often deployed using Controlled Feature Rollout technology. This means that select Insiders get access initially, and we monitor feedback closely to assess performance before broader distribution.
  • Toggle for New Features: If you’re eager to be among the first to experience new features, turn the toggle ON in Settings > Windows Update. This will enable you to receive updates immediately. If the toggle is OFF, the rollouts will happen gradually as they mature.
  • Feature Testing: Remember, this is an Insider program, so some features might not make it to full release as we gather feedback and also explore different concepts.
  • Localization Notice: Please bear in mind that some features may not yet be fully localized. If you notice localization issues in your language, report them via the Feedback Hub.
