The first day of the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship proved to be an exciting chapter for the University of Missouri Men’s Golf team, with sophomore standout Veikka Viskari taking the lead for the Tigers. After a steady beginning with an opening round of 74, Viskari sprang into action during the second round, delivering an impressive three-under-par 69. This performance catapulted him up the leaderboard, showcasing his remarkable skills and competitive spirit.
Viskari’s Stellar Performance
During the second round, Viskari displayed exceptional precision and composure. He notched a total of six birdies, with an astonishing four coming in his final seven holes. This late surge not only highlighted his ability to close rounds effectively but also propelled him up 19 spots, placing him 21st overall after two rounds. Throughout the day, he has accumulated 12 birdies over 36 holes, demonstrating his knack for finding the bottom of the cup.
Team Standings and Contributions
But Viskari wasn’t alone in contributing to the Tigers’ performance. The team’s dynamic was supplemented by three other golfers, each finishing the day at +4. They included:
