Utah Volleyball: Thriving in the Big 12
IRVING, Texas – The excitement surrounding the University of Utah Volleyball program is palpable as they gear up for the 2025 season. After a commendable third-place finish in their inaugural campaign in the Big 12, the Utes are set to take the court with renewed determination and ambition. With the Big 12 revealing its 2025 volleyball schedule, fans can mark their calendars for a thrilling upcoming season that promises fierce competition and unforgettable moments.
A Competitive Landscape
Entering the new season, each Big 12 school will engage in a dynamic competition schedule. The Utes will face a total of 18 conference matches, kicking off the action on September 25. The structure of the matches entails playing 10 teams once and facing four teams—Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, and Colorado—twice in a home-and-away format. This not only strengthens rivalries but also enriches the overall experience for players and fans alike. The specifics of Utah’s non-conference schedule will be unveiled later this spring, so anticipation is building!
A Vision for Excellence
Head coach Beth Launiere, who is embarking on her 36th season at the helm of the program, exudes confidence as she prepares her squad for another vigorous season. “We’re excited to begin our second season in the Big 12,” Launiere shared. “This conference has established itself as one of the best in the nation, and I expect 2025 to be no different. We’ve created new traditions and rivalries, and we are ready to make our mark after finishing third in our inaugural year.”
The Rise of the Big 12
Last season, the Big 12 Conference demonstrated tremendous strength, finishing the 2024 season ranked second nationally for the percentage of teams in the polls and showcasing five ranked programs in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association/TARAFLEX Poll. What’s more, they saw a strong representation in the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship, with six teams earning selection two years in a row. The competitiveness of this conference is unyielding, and the Utes are poised for impactful performances.
