Brentford’s Golden Opportunities

Brentford recently had a weekend off due to a cup semi-final rearrangement, allowing them to focus entirely on their encounter against Nottingham Forest on Thursday night. With the conclusion of Blank Gameweek 34, it’s the perfect moment to evaluate the Bees’ assets in preparation for their final four fixtures against Manchester United, Ipswich, Fulham, and Wolves.

Since the new year, Brentford has emerged as a prime target for Fantasy Premier League managers. They experienced an impressive spell in January, boasting five consecutive away victories. Their recent 4-2 triumph over Brighton marked a significant milestone, being their first home win since early December – a clear indicator of the potential within Brentford’s squad.

Chasing their best league finish since the 1930s, Brentford currently sits seventh in the league with a commendable total of 58 goals. Leading the pack is Yoane Wissa (£6.6m) who has netted 17 goals, establishing himself as one of the top forwards in the league. Meanwhile, Kevin Schade (£5.1m) made headlines with a remarkable 23-point performance against Leicester in Gameweek 13.

It’s worth noting that Mark Flekken (£4.4m) leads the top five European leagues in saves, offering tremendous value for FPL managers. In front of him, Nathan Collins (£4.5m) has contributed significantly, boasting nine attacking returns, including assists against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.

Star Player Spotlight

The crown jewel among Brentford’s assets has undoubtedly been Mbeumo—the only player alongside Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) to eclipse 200 points in this campaign. His sensational 18-point performance against Brighton serves as a compelling reminder of his value, especially as we approach these critical final Gameweeks.

Mbeumo, a key penalty-taker and frequent set-piece contributor, has racked up an impressive 25 attacking returns, playing the highest minutes among all midfielders and forwards this season. While his ownership has dipped slightly from its peak of 4.5 million, anticipate a resurgence as managers eye his excellent captaincy potential.

The Best of the Rest

In Blank Gameweek 34, over one million managers activated the Free Hit chip, enabling them to assemble a one-week squad, leading to fruitful results. Standout performers included Matheus Cunha (£7.0m) and Kieran Trippier (£5.7m), each of whom made significant contributions.

Defenders such as Dan Burn (£4.5m), José Sá (£4.4m), and Rayan Aït-Nouri (£5.0m) also found success, pushing their scores into double digits beyond just clean sheets.

Despite a rocky start against Southampton, a late winner from Ryan Sessegnon (£4.2m) salvaged 11 points for nearly 700,000 managers, highlighting the thrills of FPL.

Players on the Rise

Heading into Gameweek 35, Mbeumo is the hottest commodity, with managers scrambling to secure his services. Following closely is Cunha, who has been a revelation since his return from suspension, delivering two goals and three assists for a whopping 30 points in just 203 minutes. Wolves are riding a winning streak, though they face a challenging trip to Man City shortly after Friday night’s deadline.

Joško Gvardiol (£6.3m) and Omar Marmoush (£7.6m) complete the most sought-after players, as Manchester City fights to cement their spot in next season’s Champions League.

On the flip side, Cole Palmer (£10.6m) has found himself on the most-sold list, extending a goal drought that has lasted an astonishing 12 league matches.

Captaincy Conundrum

With Gameweek 34 offering few standout fixtures, the captaincy decision becomes crucial. While Salah and Liverpool have already claimed the Premier League title, the Egyptian superstar remains eager to break personal records in his matchup against his former club, Chelsea.

Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final may prevent Bukayo Saka (£10.5m) from featuring prominently against Bournemouth, making Mbeumo an enticing option for this week’s captain.

As you prepare for Gameweek 35, keep an eye on these insights and recommendations to elevate your FPL game. Happy managing!
