What About the Kids?

And what are the younger generations eating? A separate analysis reveals that 36.3% of children aged 2 to 19 ate fast food on any given day between 2015 and 2018, with 13.8% of their daily caloric intake coming from these meals.
However, the most recent data shows progress: fast food consumption among children has dropped to 30.1% daily, with a smaller 11.4% of calories consumed from these often maligned menus.

For sub-groups, the consumption patterns reveal that:

  • Kids aged 2 to 11 derive 8.5% of their calories from fast food.
  • Teens aged 12 to 19 consume 14.6% from the same source.

The Search for Healthier Fast Food Options
