The Maryland Volleyball program is preparing for an exhilarating season ahead, as the Big Ten has officially announced its 2025 volleyball schedule. Head Coach Adam Hughes expressed his enthusiasm, noting, "The release of the Big Ten volleyball schedule is always an exciting moment, but this year feels especially significant. With the defending national champion Penn State and eight NCAA Tournament teams from last year, the depth of this conference is as strong as ever."
Early Matches: A Road Warrior’s Journey
The Terrapins will commence their 20-match conference journey with a challenging series of three consecutive road games. Mark your calendars for the season opener on Thursday, September 25, against Iowa, followed by a crucial match against Nebraska on Saturday, September 27. The Terps will then head to New Jersey for a showdown with Rutgers on Friday, October 3.
Home Sweet Home: October Showdowns
October promises to be thrilling, as the Terps will kick off the month with four consecutive home matches. Their highlight matchup will be against the defending national champions, Penn State, on Sunday, October 5. Following that, they will face Illinois on Friday, October 10, Wisconsin on Sunday, October 12, and conclude their home stand on Wednesday, October 15 with a rematch against Rutgers.
West Coast Encounters: Historic Trips Ahead
As the month progresses, the Terps will head to East Lansing for a contest against Michigan State on Sunday, October 19, and then make their way to the West Coast. They will face powerhouses USC on Thursday, October 23, and UCLA on Saturday, October 25. Coach Hughes noted, "We’re thrilled for our first-ever trips to UCLA and USC, expanding our reach in this new era of Big Ten volleyball. With the possibility that this could be the final season of the 20-match conference slate, every match carries a little extra weight."
November: The Final Push
The Terrapins will open November with a significant road game against Northwestern on Sunday, November 2. They will return home for back-to-back matches against Ohio State on Friday, November 7, and Michigan on Saturday, November 8.
Following that, Maryland will hit the road again for contests against Purdue on Friday, November 14, and Indiana on Sunday, November 16.
As the regular season concludes, the Terps will face Minnesota at home on Friday, November 21, before heading to State College to take on Penn State on Sunday, November 23. The season wraps up with home matches against Washington on Wednesday, November 26, and Oregon on Friday, November 28.
