(June 16, 2025) – The spotlight was bright on Day 2 of the **2025 College National Finals Rodeo** as the Bobcats from Montana State University showcased their talent in spectacular fashion in Casper, Wyoming. With an electrifying atmosphere buzzing through the **Ford Wyoming Arena**, the performances were nothing short of thrilling.
The Bobcats Rise to the Challenge
Leading the charge was **Monte Bailey**, who logged an impressive score of **78** in saddle bronc riding, securing an **eighth place** overall by the midway mark of the second go-round. Bailey’s unwavering determination embodies the spirit of the Bobcats, as they strive for success in this prestigious rodeo event.
Coach’s Perspective
Addressing the team’s performance, MSU coach **Kyle Whitaker** stated, “*We had some great performances and a few disappointing ones.*” He emphasized the team’s goal for **top four finishes**, stressing the need for the contestants to maintain the momentum. “We need them to keep that rolling to qualify for the Saturday night short round,” he added, igniting the team’s competitive spirit.
Steer Wrestling Success
It wasn’t just Bailey who shone bright. The **steer wrestling** event saw **Cole Detton** and **Mike Nannini** clinching spots in the **top ten** with times of **4.8** and **5.0** seconds, respectively, landing **eighth** and **tenth** places. Not far behind, **Wes Shaw** finished **11th** at **5.4 seconds**, while Detton faced a challenging round, concluding in **26th** place.
Other Noteworthy Performances
In the tie down roping category, **Wyatt Jensen** mounted a respectable effort, finishing **16th** with a time of **12.2**. Unfortunately, teammate **Mitch Detton** faced hurdles, landing in **32nd** with a slower time of **25.6**.
The women’s events took center stage on this exhilarating day as well. After Sunday featuring breakaway roping, **Annelie McCurry** and **Shantell Brewer** carved their names into the competition with **18th** and **36th** place finishes in barrel racing with times of **14.77** and **19.48**, respectively. **Michaela McCormick** and **Haven Wolstein** shone brightly in goat tying, both achieving **6.6 seconds** to tie for **eighth place**, while **Faith Marshall** followed closely behind in **14th** with her time of **6.7 seconds**.
