Celebrating Fatherhood: The Dedicated Dads Alumni Club Marks Father’s Day
Santa Maria witnessed a heartwarming celebration as the Family Service Agency’s (FSA) Dedicated Dads Alumni Club gathered over 45 dedicated fathers on June 3 to celebrate Father’s Day. This special event underscored the vital role fathers play not only in their families but also within their communities.
A Space for Celebration and Connection
Held at FSA’s welcoming Lincoln Street office, the festivities created an environment where dads could feel appreciated and connected. The evening buzzed with laughter, food, and activities, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie among participants.
Crafting Memories: Kids & Cards
One of the most cherished parts of the evening was when children, with their moms’ assistance, crafted personalized Father’s Day cards. These heartfelt creations were presented to fathers, leading to touching moments filled with appreciation and love. The sight of children beaming with pride as they handed over their crafts truly encapsulated the event’s sentiment.
“Our goal for the program and for the members of this club is to create a space where dads feel celebrated while connecting with each other to build community and strengthen parenting skills,” Yeimi Arias, FSA HHS grants manager, shared.
Lessons on Fatherhood
It’s evident that the Dedicated Dads program doesn’t just celebrate fathers; it transforms them. With milestones achieved this fiscal year, the program has enrolled 133 fathers countywide and graduated 82 participants. This achievement speaks volumes about the program’s effectiveness in enhancing parenting skills and community bonding.
Upcoming Opportunities
The program continues to expand its reach with summer classes starting in mid-July and additional sessions in August. To ensure accessibility, all workshops will be conducted in both Spanish and English, with options for in-person and virtual participation via Zoom.
