Who We’re Looking For: The Director of Marketing

Reporting Structure

The Director of Marketing directly reports to the **President and CEO** of GMCF and will work in tandem with other department heads, affiliate foundation directors, and program staff to achieve shared organizational goals.

Your Responsibilities as Director of Marketing

Marketing & Communications

  • Plan and manage strategic marketing campaigns for multiple initiatives, such as **Community Foundation Awards (CFAs)** and **Match Days**.
  • Create engaging content for various platforms, including newsletters, social media, and blog posts.
  • Design and disseminate digital marketing materials using tools like **Canva** and **Adobe Creative Suite**.
  • Oversee advertising timelines, budgets, and placements across channels—print, radio, and digital.

Social Media & Digital Strategy

  • Manage a content calendar for GMCF’s social media presence and campaign-specific outreach.
  • Coordinate the **Community Hour** radio show, preparing notes and managing promotional follow-ups.
  • Analyze engagement metrics to make data-driven adjustments for enhancing outreach efforts.

Partner & Affiliate Support

  • Develop marketing toolkits for affiliate foundations and key programs.
  • Provide dedicated support for affiliate match day campaigns.
  • Act as a marketing liaison across the regional foundation network.

Content Development

  • Craft impactful stories showcasing the results of local philanthropy.
  • Collaborate on messaging for fundraising campaigns.
  • Create donor communications and event invitations that resonate.

Project Management

  • Maintain editorial calendars and marketing timelines for strategic alignment.
  • Guide and mentor interns and volunteers on marketing initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for board meetings.

Are You the Right Fit? Qualifications Required

We are looking for candidates with:

Required

  • A **Bachelor’s degree** in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in marketing and communications.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency in **Microsoft Office** and email marketing tools like **Constant Contact**.
  • A background in **graphic design** (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines effectively.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with the nonprofit and philanthropic landscape.
  • Experience in community outreach or donor engagement.
  • Prior experience managing interns or volunteers.

Salary Range

Expect a salary between **$40,000 to $55,000** based on experience and qualifications.

Position Requirements

  • This is an **in-person position** based in Manhattan, Kansas.
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend events is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is necessary for attending regional meetings and events.
  • References may be requested for finalists.
  • The ideal start date is **August 4, 2025**, with the latest possible start date being **September 1, 2025**.
