Rutgers Gymnastics Shines at NCAA Regionals: A Return to Glory

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Scarlet Knights are back on the national stage, marking a monumental moment in their gymnastics history. After an impressive absence since 2014, Rutgers gymnastics is set to compete in the NCAA Regional Championships, facing off against Clemson in a highly anticipated play-in dual on Thursday, April 3 at 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. CT) at the prestigious Coleman Coliseum.

H2: Rutgers vs. Clemson: A Showdown to Watch

As the Scarlet Knights gear up for this pivotal matchup, they bring with them a National Qualification Score (NQS) of 195.890, placing them at No. 34 in the nation. Their adversaries, the Clemson Tigers, hold a No. 27 ranking with an NQS of 196.225. This competition isn’t just about pride; it sets the stage for an exhilarating opportunity. The winning team will advance to face formidable foes: Florida (seeded 3rd), Oregon State (14th seed), and NC State on Friday, April 4. Only the top two teams will earn coveted spots in the regional final on Sunday, April 6. The stakes are high, as the top two teams from the regional final will move on to the national semifinals in Fort Worth, Texas on April 17.

Back in 2014, Rutgers last graced the NCAA regionals, scoring a 193.750. Current acting head coach Anastasia Candia showcased her talent back then, scoring 9.750 on bars and leading the squad with a 9.725 on beam. This score not only marked the team’s best performance since 2014, but it also surpassed last year’s record of 195.750, showcasing the growth and potential of this talented squad.

The Scarlet Knights left a lasting impact this season, finishing it with an exhilarating dual meet victory at New Hampshire, scoring 196.550, their third-highest in program history. This performance highlighted their consistency, with all four events surpassing 49 points, led by Delaney Adrian’s breathtaking 39.300 in the all-around.

Additionally, at the Big Four Meet held at Ohio State, Rutgers came in with a score of 195.875, where Rachael Riley tied a program record with her stellar 9.950 on beam. This score was the highest achieved by any competitor across the Big Ten during the weekend!
