Jumbos Row to Glory: Four Tufts Athletes Named Empacher-IRCA All-Americans

MEDFORD, MA (June 20, 2025) – In a thrilling culmination to an outstanding season, four standout athletes from the Tufts University men’s rowing team have secured their places on the prestigious 2025 Empacher-Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) All-American teams for Division III. This announcement, made on Thursday, marks yet another achievement for the talented Jumbos, who finished as national runners-up.

Celebrating Excellence in Rowing

To earn the coveted title of All-American, rowers must compete in their team’s first varsity boat throughout the entire spring racing season. This year, the Jumbos are proud to have senior Max Landers, juniors Aidan Keusch and Maxwell Rosenberger, and sophomore Peter Conard recognized for their exceptional performances. Notably, Landers and Rosenberger secured spots on the first team, while Conard and Keusch made the second team. With four recipients, Tufts matches the national lead for Division III institutions—an impressive feat.

Repeat All-Americans and New Faces

Both Aidan Keusch and Max Landers achieved All-American status for the second consecutive year, showcasing their unwavering commitment to the sport. Last year, Keusch earned first-team honors, while Landers was recognized on the second team. Meanwhile, this award is a milestone for Conard and Rosenberger, affirming their ascent in collegiate rowing.

The Heart of Tufts’ Success

At the core of Tufts’ triumphs, Keusch has shown leadership as coxswain, while Rosenberger (5-seat), Conard (4-seat), and Landers (3-seat) formed a powerful nucleus in the team’s first varsity boat. Under the guidance of head coach George Munger, these talented rowers propelled the Jumbos through an exhilarating season.

Achievements Galore

The Jumbos not only captured the team points trophy at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) DIII Championships but also clinched the national runner-up title. In addition, the team excelled at the National Invitational Rowing Championships, taking home the points trophy and finishing third in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship.

Both Landers and Conard were named to the NESCAC All-Conference first team prior to the IRA championships. Their early-season performance was stellar, contributing to a sixth-place finish in the collegiate eights event at the iconic Head of the Charles Regatta.
