These appointments mark a significant step in the FEI’s ongoing restructuring, which aims to adapt to the evolving landscape of sports.

A New Era in Marketing

Introducing François Vergnol

François Vergnol arrives at the FEI with a wealth of experience, most recently serving as the Chief Revenue Officer at European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR). His track record is impressive, showcasing his ability to maximize revenue and expand fan engagement through innovative commercial strategies. At EPCR, he successfully negotiated partnerships with global giants like Emirates, DHL, and IHG Hotels. Under his leadership, the EPCR revenue team flourished and expanded its global reach.

Before his tenure at EPCR, François held pivotal roles at Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment and OC Sport, where he spearheaded marketing initiatives and strategic developments over a decade. His Master’s in Business & Marketing from NEOMA Business School in France complements his fluency in English, French, Spanish, and Catalan, making him an adept communicator in the international sports arena.

A Leader in Sports Management

Áine Power, a long-time member of the FEI since 2014, has transitioned from her position as Deputy Legal Director to oversee the Sports and Education department. Her extensive contribution to significant projects, including the League of Nations Series and Olympic qualification systems, stands testament to her commitment and expertise. Áine’s qualifications, including an International Master’s in Sports Management, reinforce her strategic vision for the organization.

Streamlining Operations for Sustainable Growth

Strategic Appointments

In a statement, FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez emphasized that these appointments reflect the organization’s adaptation to a rapidly changing sporting landscape. The restructuring aims not just to streamline operations but to reinforce a framework for sustainable growth. By hiring two executives with diverse expertise, the FEI is poised to enhance its operational efficiency and drive forward its mission.

Rigorous Selection Process

The appointment of François and Áine followed a meticulous recruitment process facilitated by specialized Executive Search Firms. Ibáñez highlighted that the FEI conducted a comprehensive evaluation to ensure the chosen candidates align seamlessly with the organization’s goals and values.

Transition of Leadership

François Vergnol succeeds Olivia Robinson, who resigned in October 2024 after serving as the FEI Communications Director for over three years. The organization is highly optimistic about François stepping into this pivotal role, especially at a time when fresh leadership is crucial for innovative growth.

What’s Next for the FEI?

With Áine Power stepping into her role starting from August 1, and François Vergnol following closely on August 21, both are set to influence the FEI’s direction significantly. The combination of their backgrounds in sports management and marketing is anticipated to usher in a new era of strategic development within the FEI.

In conclusion, as the FEI embarks on this exciting journey, the leadership of François and Áine promises to bring bold vision and innovative strategies that will define the future of equestrian sports on a global scale.
