Florida State Men’s Golf Triumphs at Lewis Chitengwa Invitational
Windy conditions couldn’t dampen the spirits of the No. 10 Florida State men’s golf team, which soared to victory at the Lewis Chitengwa Invitational held at the scenic Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Virginia. With a remarkable performance, the Seminoles showcased their prowess on the greens, finishing an impressive 13 strokes under par, outpacing the host team, No. 11 Virginia.
A Winning Streak: Florida State’s Formidable Season
This victory marks the third win of the season for the Seminoles, further solidifying their spot as serious contenders in collegiate golf. Earlier triumphs included the Watersound Invitational and the Seminole Intercollegiate. Throughout the 2025 season, Florida State maintained a commendable form, never finishing lower than third place and outperforming 16 nationally ranked teams across four tournaments.
Star Performers Shine Bright
Leading the charge were two of Florida State’s standout players: Luke Clanton and Gray Albright. Clanton clinched the individual title with an impressive 5-under par, 208, marking his third win of the season, which ties his total from the previous year. Albright followed closely, securing a commendable 3-under par, 210.
The team saw additional support from Carson Brewer, who finished sixth with a score of 2-under, 211, notching his third top-10 finish in just nine appearances this season. Other notable performances included Jack Bigham, who scored an even-par 213 to tie for eighth place, and Tyler Weaver, who finished with a score of 4-over, 217, landing in a tie for 25th.
Competing as an individual, Patrick McCann secured a solid spot as well, finishing at 1-over, 214, which earned him a tie for 14th place.
Upcoming Challenges: The Road Ahead
As they bask in the glory of this victory, the Florida State Seminoles are gearing up for their next challenge: the ACC Championships, set to take place in Bowling Green, Kentucky, from April 24-28 at The Club at Olde Stone.
