Join the Fight Against Hunger: iFeed Event Packages Over 80,000 Meals
On a bustling Saturday morning, Logan High School became the heart of a remarkable initiative during the annual iFeed event, which aims to combat hunger both locally and globally. This energetic gathering brought together Rotary clubs, community businesses, and youth members from seven different area schools to collect food donations and pack an impressive 80,000+ meals destined for those in need.
The Power of Community Collaboration
A Unified Cause
Students representing the Interact clubs from Aquinas, Caledonia, Central, Holmen, Logan, Onalaska, and West Salem joined forces for this heartwarming cause. They weren’t merely participants; they were champions of change committed to making a difference in the lives of others.
Packing for a Purpose
Teams of community members and students were seen working industriously in shifts, transforming tables into hubs of activity filled with bags of nutritious ingredients like rice. As the bags were filled, sealed, and boxed, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and hope. This teamwork exemplified the spirit of the community coming together for a singular purpose—to alleviate hunger.
A Vital Partnership: Kids Against Hunger
The Rotary and Interact clubs collaborated with Kids Against Hunger, a notable organization dedicated to fighting hunger worldwide, ensuring that the meals packed at the iFeed event will directly reach communities in Honduras. While the meals will leave La Crosse next week, it’s important to note that they will take approximately six to eight weeks to arrive, as they are transported by ship. This timeline emphasizes the importance of patience and perseverance in social causes.
Food Donations and Distribution
Meanwhile, outside the school, community members generously donated a variety of food items. Canned goods, toiletries, and various non-perishable items were sorted into bins, showcasing the dedication of local residents to tackle food insecurity head-on. All donations collected during the event are destined for the Hunger Task Force, which plays a crucial role in distributing food to local food pantries.
Celebrating Nine Years of Impact
This year marks the ninth anniversary of the iFeed event, and with its ongoing success, it has already packed over 640,000 meals and collected more than 200,000 food items during its storied history. This showcases not only the extensive reach of the initiative but also its profound impact on the community.
