AUGUSTA, Ga. – In a dazzling showcase of talent, Kansas State University senior women’s golfer Carla Bernat carved out a stellar score of 4-under 68 during the first round of the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur (ANWA) on Wednesday. With this impressive performance, she currently finds herself tied for sixth place at the Champions Retreat Golf Club, a par-72 track stretching 6,450 yards.

Starting her round on the 10th tee, Bernat displayed exceptional skills, achieving a bogey-free outing that included strategic birdies on the par-4 12th, par-4 15th, par-5 3rd, and par-3 6th holes. "It was awesome," Bernat reflected. "I played well and hit the ball really solid. My speed was really good too. I think I managed the important moments pretty well today."

Despite her commendable performance, Bernat currently trails five shots behind the leading competitor, Megha Ganne of Stanford, who delivered a breathtaking record-low score of 9-under par 63. Defending champion Lottie Woad of Florida State holds the second position with an impressive 7-under par 65, while three players are tied for third at 5-under par 67.
