### Liberty Swimming & Diving Athletes Set to Shine at National Championships

As the competitive swim season heats up, **Liberty University’s swimming and diving team** is poised for spectacular performances at the **2025 Toyota National Championships**. This prestigious event takes place from **Tuesday to Saturday** at the renowned **IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana**.

### Exciting Representation

**Malia Francis**, a redshirt sophomore, and freshman standout **Aly Bozzuto** will be the proud representatives of Liberty at this incredible event. But that’s not all! **Kamryn Cannings**, a dynamic sophomore, is set to swim at the **Bell Canadian Swimming Trials**, happening from **June 8-12** at **Victoria Saanich Commonwealth Place** in Victoria, British Columbia.

### A Legacy of Excellence

This year marks the **14th consecutive year** that at least one Liberty athlete has showcased their talent on a national or international platform. Last season, Malia Francis and teammate **Heather Gardner** made waves at the **U.S. Olympic Team Trials**, while **Kamryn Cannings** took part in the Canadian trials.

### Competition Format

The **Toyota National Championships** will feature preliminary heats starting at **10 a.m. Eastern** daily. The top 24 times from these sessions will earn spots in the evening finals, beginning at **8 p.m. Eastern**.

– **Top 8** finishers secure a place in the **championship (A) final**.
– **9th-16th** place qualifies for the **consolation (B) final**.
– **17th-24th** place contenders will compete in the **bonus (C) final**.
Importantly, no team scores will be recorded during the championship.

This event is not just a competition; it serves as a trial for selecting **Team USA** for the **2025 World Aquatics Championships** scheduled for **Singapore** this summer.

### Spotlight on Individual Performances

**Aly Bozzuto** has made quite the impression in her freshman year, setting **program records** in the **100 breaststroke (59.17)**, **200 breaststroke (2:11.28)**, and **100 IM (57.21)**. Her exceptional performance at the **ASUN Championships** garnered her the title of **Most Outstanding Freshman Swimmer**, where she clinched victories in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes while finishing second in the **50 freestyle**. Bozzuto’s remarkable achievements earned her a spot in the **2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships**.

**Malia Francis** from Rhinelander, Wisconsin, will also be a name to watch. She notched an impressive win in the **200 backstroke** at the recent ASUN Championships, earning an NCAA B cut time of **1:54.87**. Her prowess doesn’t stop there; she also placed fourth in the **100 backstroke** and is ranked third in program history for the **200 backstroke**. A seasoned competitor, Francis has participated in both the **2023 and 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials**, securing two career ASUN medals along the way.

### Spotlight on Kamryn Cannings at the Bell Canadian Swimming Trials

**Kamryn Cannings** will be competing at the **Bell Canadian Swimming Trials**, where she seeks to secure a spot for the **2025 World Aquatics Championships**. In this championship, the top two swimmers in each event who meet the **Aqua “A” standard** will represent Canada, with additional slots available for relays.

With an impressive track record, Cannings has vast national experience, having taken third place at the **2023 Canadian World Trials** in both the **100-meter butterfly (58.67)** and **50-meter butterfly (26.73)**. This rising star also showcased her talent at the **2024 Canadian Olympic Trials** and earned the title of **Most Outstanding Swimmer** at the ASUN Championships.
