This weekend, SIOUX CITY is set to come alive as the Life Rolls On Truck Show takes center stage outside the Tyson Events Center. Approximately 100 semi-trucks will be dazzling enthusiasts and families alike, all while serving a heartwarming purpose—raising vital funds for the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital.
An Inspiring Journey of Gratitude
The driving force behind this impactful event is Thomas Joy, a former truck driver whose life changed dramatically in January 2016. After suffering a broken neck and back in a single-vehicle accident, Joy found himself spending 53 days at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. His experience led him to create Life Rolls On as an avenue to give back to the facility that aided in his recovery.
Joy expressed his intentions, saying, “I just wanted to help pay it forward. For all the people that helped me, I wanted to show my thanks and pay it forward.” This sentiment lays the foundation for an event that not only celebrates trucks but also champions healing.
Supporting Children in Need
All proceeds from this year’s event—be it from sponsors, merchandise sales, or silent auctions—will directly assist the children’s wing of the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. Joy shares his perspective: “When you’re hurt as an adult, it’s hard to comprehend; so I couldn’t imagine being a child and not knowing how to put life back together. If I can help raise some money and help put their life back together one piece at a time, that’s all we need.”
