Discover the Sunny Side of Western Living at Little Vaqueros Kids Club This Summer!

This summer, let your little ones embark on an unforgettable adventure at the Little Vaqueros Kids Club, nestled in a stunning 3,500-acre ranch near Park City. This summer camp immerses children in the essence of the Western lifestyle while nurturing a profound connection with nature. From mixing horse grain to identifying native fish species, kids will find excitement and education in every activity!

Experience the Spirit of the West

The Little Vaqueros Kids Club, a vibrant extension of Blue Sky Utah’s Adventure Program, is designed to revitalize children’s engagement with the great outdoors. Under the guidance of Henry Hudson, the general manager of Blue Sky Utah, the program represents a beautiful union of his educational experience and passion for outdoor adventure. Hudson shares, “One of my favorite programs is the Little Vaqueros Club. We recognized a growing interest among families for a dynamic kids club that could enrich their vacation experience at Blue Sky.”

More Than Just a Daycare

What differentiates the Little Vaqueros Kids Club from conventional day camps? It’s a program rich in educational value! Unlike traditional activity camps, this club lays down learning objectives and goals for each day. Hudson emphasizes, “It’s less of a daycare and more of a hands-on educational experience.” Each day unfolds with engaging themes and activities that spark curiosity and adventure.

A Comprehensive Learning Experience

At Blue Sky Utah, founded by Mike and Barbara Phillips, the ranch offers a cornucopia of programs, including High West Distilling, a luxury hotel, gourmet dining, and an equestrian center. As Hudson outlines, the diverse offerings naturally inform the Little Vaqueros curriculum. Campers will participate in a variety of activities such as:

  • Wilderness Hikes: Exploring the great outdoors
  • Horse Care: Learning how to nurture and manage horses
  • Fishing & Culinary Skills: Cooking with fresh ingredients from Gracie’s Farm
  • Mining History: Engaging in fun outdoor activities like geocaching

A Closer Look: The Weekly Schedule

Each week is uniquely structured, with specific focuses that keep the campers excited and eager to learn:

  • Monday – Wilderness Explorers: Nature scavenger hunts and fishing basics
  • Tuesday – Cowboys & Cowgirls: Daily horse care and riding sessions
  • Wednesday – Mountain Creativity: Nature-inspired crafts and birdhouse building
  • Thursday – Culinary Exploration: Foraging for edible plants and cooking with chefs
  • Friday – Discovering Gracie’s Farm: Daily care for rescued horses and farming chores
  • Saturday – Little Miners: Scavenger hunts for geodes and lessons on mining history
  • Sunday – Love of the Land: Planting native species and outdoor painting

Making Connections and Building Memories

Hudson’s passion extends beyond simply hosting a camp. By incorporating local community engagement, the Little Vaqueros Club is open to children ages 6 to 10 (and up to 12 for lodge guests), allowing local kids to forge friendships with visitors. Each week caps the group size at 12 campers, ensuring a personalized and cozy atmosphere.

"We honor the culture of Eastern Summit County through outdoor recreation, conservation, and traditional skills like farming and ranching," Hudson explains. This philosophy engages kids who might come from urban environments, providing them with a rare glimpse into rural life.

Transformational Experiences Await

Witnessing the transformation in campers as they step beyond their digital lives into the world of nature is one of the most rewarding aspects of the program. "It’s incredible to see kids getting their hands dirty and genuinely connecting with nature!" explains Jessica Cook, who manages sales and marketing.

Hudson recounts a touching anecdote involving a young girl who, after a day on the farm, was inspired to create a garden in her backyard. Such moments highlight the profound impact of immersing children in the vibrant Western lifestyle.
