Exciting Updates in Microsoft Teams

Manage Incoming Calls Seamlessly

Handling work interruptions just got a whole lot easier! **Microsoft Teams now features a compact pop-up window** for incoming calls, allowing you to see who’s calling without disrupting your workflow. Say goodbye to full-screen distractions! You can answer calls while staying engaged in your current tasks, particularly beneficial during meetings or while focusing on crucial projects.

This nifty feature is automatically enabled across Teams on **Windows, Mac, web browsers, and mobile devices** (iOS and Android).

Create New Channels in a Snap

Creating channels has never been easier! Users can now tap into the **“New Items” dropdown** at the top of the chat and channel list to quickly create new channels. No more endless searching through teams; just select **“New channel”** and choose from an **alphabetical list** of teams, including those not visible in your main list (as long as you have permission!).

Transformative Changes in Microsoft Outlook

Streamlined Switching in Outlook (Windows)

Mark your calendars for mid-May 2025! **Microsoft Outlook** will soon make **switching between new and classic versions** effortless. The new Outlook will now remain minimized in your taskbar when you jump back to classic, allowing for a smooth transition. By June 2025, you can open classic Outlook **without leaving** the new version.

  • Opting to **“open”** classic Outlook will launch it seamlessly without exiting the new version.
  • Choosing **“switch back”** minimizes the new Outlook and opens classic, ensuring notifications and reminders follow the version in use.
Enhanced Folder Management on Mobile

Outlook mobile is bringing improved folder management capabilities. Users can effortlessly create subfolders, rename, move, and delete folders directly from their inbox by tapping the **Edit icon** in the sidebar. A simple drag-and-drop will also allow you to rearrange and nest folders!

Here’s how to compress a PDF:

  1. Open the PDF in OneDrive for the web or Preview in SharePoint.
  2. Hit the **Compress** button at the top of the screen.
  3. Select your desired compression level (Light, Medium, or Heavy) and click **Save a copy**.

Extended Video Clip Recording Limit

Exciting news: Microsoft Teams is **increasing the recording time limit for video clips** from **1 minute to 5 minutes**! This extension allows for more comprehensive updates or messages captured in recorded form.

Live Captions Copying Disabled for Content Protection

To better protect sensitive meeting content, **copying of text from Live Captions during meetings will be disabled**. You can still scroll through the captions in real time, but copy-pasting text will help prevent unintended sharing of critical information.

Transformations in Microsoft Outlook

Updated Shared Mailbox Displays in Outlook for Windows

For users of shared mailboxes, there’s good news: these will soon be displayed like regular accounts in your folder list. An **icon will help distinguish** shared mailboxes, making it easier to navigate your overall layout.

This will eliminate the separate **Shared with Me** section, streamlining your experience while retaining access to all mailboxes and folders.
