The Economic Package Proposal: A Risky Gamble for MMB Members

As we dive into the heart of Push Week, the anticipation mounts for an impactful economic proposal from the Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) team. Day three is upon us, and there’s still no sign of a meaningful update.

The Current Negotiation Landscape

This morning marked a pivotal moment in our negotiations as we presented a new counterproposal centered on a non-economic package. Unfortunately, the Governor’s team appears to be stalling, leaving members in a precarious position.

A Show of Solidarity

Today’s negotiations have taken on a theme of solidarity, exemplified not just in words but in action. With our friends at AFSCME negotiating next door, our negotiators swapped t-shirts—MAPE in green, AFSCME in blue—to symbolize our united front against the State’s outrageous proposed health care cost increases. Check out our social media post to see this unity in action.

Changing the Narrative

Our collective unity is starting to push the Governor’s team into a corner. We’re pressing them to craft a proposal that meets the needs of the two largest bargaining units in the state.

Member Feedback Matters

After the MMB proposed their significant cuts, we quickly reached out to our members for their thoughts. The responses to our strike survey have been overwhelming, reflecting the strong sentiments of our workforce. Your feedback was so compelling that we brought it straight to the negotiation table. Here’s a glimpse of your responses.

Your Voice Counts

If you haven’t had a chance to participate yet, it’s critical that you take the strike survey. This is not a strike vote—yet—but it’s an essential gauge of our collective temperature as we work to block these dangerous cuts.

The Road Ahead

We are in this fight together, and this is just the beginning! Your participation is crucial as we navigate these tumultuous waters.

In Solidarity,

Megan Dayton, President
Carolyn Murphy, Negotiations Co-Chair
Sean McIntyre, Negotiations Co-Chair

Together, we will strive for a fair and just resolution that safeguards our members’ livelihoods. Stay engaged, and let your voices be heard!
