Reflecting on Recent Triumphs

The Wolfpack recently showcased their impressive skills at the Raleigh Relays held from March 27-29, establishing a strong presence and leaving their mark on the track.

Outstanding Performances

One of the stars of the meet, Luke Thierfelder, delivered a jaw-dropping performance in the javelin, achieving a personal best with a throw of 66.58 meters (218 feet, 5 inches). In yet another display of remarkable talent, Katie Horne kicked off her outdoor season with a notable personal record of 46.54 meters (152-8) in the javelin just a week prior. But she didn’t stop there! Horne smashed her own record with a stunning throw of 48.40 meters (158-9), placing fifth in the competition and solidifying her status as NC State’s all-time best in the javelin.

Record-Breaking Performances

Katelyn Hartman’s remarkable effort in the 10,000-meter invitational showcased her unstoppable spirit. She surged to an early lead, finishing with a personal-best time of 31:20.60. Hartman didn’t just break the meet and facility records; she shattered the NC State all-time record and now ranks as the third-fastest performer in NCAA history. What a phenomenal achievement!

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Savannah Napoleon demonstrated her prowess by leading from the gate to the finish line with a personal-best time of 9:34.22. This remarkable performance not only clinched her the meet and facility records but also positions her as the fastest steeplechaser in the NCAA this season.

Close Finishes and New Rankings

Competing fiercely in the 400 meters, Elijah Dawes saw the finish line ahead of him after a neck-and-neck race, clocking in at 46.21 seconds for a second-place finish.
