NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma has once again put itself on the map, not just for its athletic prowess but for the academic achievements of its student-athletes. On Wednesday, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) office proudly announced that 20 Sooner student-athletes have earned spots on the prestigious 2024-25 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll.

The selections are based on exemplary academic performance during the 2024 spring, summer, and fall semesters. It’s commendable that Oklahoma boasts 20 entries on this elite list, which highlights its commitment to fostering not only athletic prowess but also academic excellence. Among those honored are six from men’s basketball and six from women’s basketball, as well as eight from women’s gymnastics.
In total, the University of Oklahoma has produced an impressive 124 SEC Academic Honor Roll selections since joining the conference, signifying the institution’s enduring commitment to both academic and athletic success.
Qualification Criteria for the SEC Academic Honor Roll
To qualify for the SEC Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must adhere to several rigorous standards:
- GPA of 3.00 or Above: This can be for either the preceding academic year or a cumulative GPA at the nominating institution.
- Eligibility Requirements: They must be on scholarship, a letterwinner, or have spent two years on a varsity team if they are non-scholarship athletes.
- Credit Hours: Completion of 24 semester hours of non-remedial academic credit towards a degree (or 18 semester hours towards a graduate degree) at the nominating institution.
- Team Participation: They must have been members of their varsity teams for the entire NCAA Championship segment.
