Oklahoma Women’s Gymnastics: A Season of Stellar Achievements and Anticipation Ahead
NORMAN – The thrill of competition electrifies the air as the No. 2 ranked Oklahoma women's gymnastics team shines brighter than ever. This past season, five remarkable athletes from the Sooners earned a total of 14 All-America honors from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA), a stunning testament to their skill, dedication, and hard work.
Honoring Excellence: The All-America Achievements
This year’s accolades reflect not just individual excellence but a collective commitment to greatness. Seniors Jordan Bowers and Audrey Davis, junior Faith Torrez, sophomore Keira Wells, and freshman Lily Pederson are the proud recipients of these prestigious honors.
What Does It Mean to be an All-American?
Regular season All-America honors are awarded based on an athlete’s final national qualifying score (NQS) before regional competitions commence. Athletes ranked in the top 8 nationally receive first team honors, while those ranked 9-16 earn second team recognition. The Sooners’ outstanding performance was highlighted by their representation across every event, making them a formidable presence in the collegiate gymnastics landscape.
Spotlight on Individual Performances
The team's success was underscored by individual brilliance—particularly from junior Faith Torrez, who leads the Sooners with an impressive five All-America honors. This marks her inaugural accomplishment of sweeping all five awards, including first team honors on vault, beam, floor, and all-around competitions, alongside second team recognition on bars. She claimed the title of the No. 1 gymnast in the nation on floor and ranked highly across multiple events—second in all-around and third on vault and beam. Remarkably, she joins a select group of just four athletes to achieve this distinction in 2025.
A Look at the Other Stars
Jordan Bowers, in the twilight of her senior season, secured four honors, with first team placements on beam, floor, and all-around, and second-team honors on bars. Bowers stands out as one of the top contenders, tying with Torrez at No. 2 in the all-around category nationwide and achieving impressive rankings on floor and beam.
Audrey Davis and Lily Pederson each contributed significantly, bringing home two accolades each. Davis claimed a first-team spot on bars, finishing the season as the top-ranked athlete in that event, while also securing second team honors in the all-around. Freshman Pederson, with her brilliance shining through in her debut season, earned second-team honors on both vault and bars, making her one of only two freshmen to nab multiple honors this year.
Keira Wells capped off her season with a second-team nod on vault, marking her first regular-season honor.
What’s Next for the Sooners?
As the excitement builds, the Sooners are gearing up for the NCAA Seattle Regional from April 3-6. Ranked as the No. 2 overall seed, Oklahoma will face tough competition, including Auburn, Nebraska, and the winner of the Illinois/UC Davis showdown, in their quest for championship glory. Be sure to catch the action on Friday, April 3, at 9 p.m. CT.
