Dive into Adventure with Santa Barbara’s Summer Reading Challenge
The Santa Barbara Public Library warmly invites families, individuals, and avid readers of all ages to jump into a summer of excitement with the annual Summer Reading Challenge, aptly titled Treasured Tales. Get ready to celebrate the joy of reading and unleash your imagination!
Sign-Up Starts June 6
Kicking off on June 6, community members can enroll in the challenge at various locations, including the Central, Eastside, and Montecito libraries, or even at one of the Library on the Go stops. Whether you’re a bookworm or looking to embrace reading for the first time, this is your chance to set your own reading goals and dive into a world of stories.
Interactive Fun for Children
Young readers will embark on a quest with their very own Adventure Log upon signing up, and they’ll receive a free book—what a fantastic way to ignite a love for reading! Each library visit offers an opportunity to chat with staff about their latest reads, earning colorful beads along the way. The goal? To craft a vibrant, personalized reading chain that reflects their journey.
Celebrate Achievements
Once children reach their reading targets, they can return in August to claim a special prize pack and join in a community celebration at the Ice Cream Social on August 14—an event guaranteed to be as sweet as the treats!
Teens and Adults: A Unique Reading Adventure
For the teens and adults, participation is equally engaging. Grab a DIY zine at any library branch to document your prized "reading treasures" throughout the summer. Once the summer wraps up, return your completed zine in August to receive a special prize. It’s not just reading; it’s a creative expression of your literary journey!
