Women’s Golf Seniors Bid Farewell at Missouri Valley Conference Championship

As the sun set on their collegiate careers, three determined seniors from Valparaiso University’s women’s golf team played their final rounds on Tuesday at the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, held at the picturesque Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Illinois. This par-72, 6067-yard course witnessed the end of an era for Anna Fay (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills), Madison Keil (LaGrange, Ind. / Lakeland), and Katie Schreiner (Fenton, Mo. / Summit). The fourth member of this year’s senior class, Belle Brunner (Goshen, Ind. / Concord), also supported her teammates in this significant event.

How It Unfolded

  • Anna Fay closed her collegiate chapter on a high note. She showcased her remarkable skills by carding her best round of the tournament with a 76 (+4), ultimately finishing with a 54-hole score of 235, placing her top on the team and tying for 32nd place overall.

  • Madison Keil delivered a commendable performance, finishing second on the team for both the day and the tournament with a score of 242, wrapping up her final round with an 80.

  • The Beacons, as a team, posted a total score of 324 on Tuesday, concluding the championship with an aggregate of 972, securing the 12th position overall. The Illinois State team claimed the championship title with a stunning score of 874, while Jilian Cosler of Bradley took home the medalist honors at one under.

Inside the Rounds

  • Bella Campos (Honolulu, Hawaii / IMG Academy), a standout sophomore, achieved a remarkable season scoring average of 80.07, placing her ninth in the program’s history for a single season. This impressive average surpassed the previous ninth-place tie held by Sibil Gill (2014-15) and Angie Kim (2015-16) at 80.68.

  • Campos isn’t just a rising star; her career scoring average of 80.95 currently ranks first in program history for players with two seasons completed, outpacing former standout Kayla Krueger (2016-2020).

  • Over the years, Madison Keil achieved a career average of 81.25, tying for third place in program history alongside Kelly Voigt (2010-2014).

  • Anna Fay concluded her remarkable journey with a career average of 81.37, landing her fifth on the program’s all-time list. It’s worth noting that three of the top five career scoring averages in program history now belong to this year’s talented senior class.

  • As a team, the Beacons finished the season with an average score of 323.58, marking the fourth-best average in program history and the best since the 2019-2020 season.

Reflections from Head Coach Jill McCoy

“This was the toughest day we’ve had this season, but my players pulled through with a few birdies. It’s been an incredible four years with my seniors, and while I’m sad to see them go, I’m looking ahead to next season with anticipation for more great achievements,” said Head Coach Jill McCoy.
