After relocating to Chicago in 2006, Regina channeled her culinary talents by cooking for elderly neighbors. However, it was in 2019 that she officially launched her business. Just as she gathered momentum with an exciting launch party in early 2020, the pandemic hit, throwing her plans into disarray.

Regina found herself at a crossroads. “I didn’t know what to do,” she recalls. But then a moment of divine inspiration struck. She likens her situation to a plant in need of proper care—it reminded her that she had everything she needed to grow.

By 2023, she returned to Flint, selling her delicious treats from a humble tent outside the market. One standout is the Lady Deza Strawberry Cake, lovingly named after her mother. This tribute, along with red velvet and carrot cakes, illustrates the personal touch Regina brings to every dessert. The logo of her business pays homage to her grandmother, Isabelle Hatter, who inspired her love for baking.
Beyond selling at the market, Regina’s offerings have expanded to locations like Hurley Medical Center, and she even provides catering services, merging community connection with entrepreneurship. “I get to say hi to everyone that comes through the door—that’s my favorite part,” she beams.
