From Coast to Coast: A New Journey in Sioux Falls

**Dayna and Will Cromarty’s story is a remarkable testament** to the idea that adventure and love can lead to unexpected places. With roots spanning the breadth of the United States—from upstate New York to Silicon Valley and the far northern reaches of Wisconsin—all paths converged in North Dakota, where their professional lives collided. And it was here that their journey found a new chapter.

Choosing Sioux Falls: A Wedding Destination with Meaning

As they planned their future together, **Sioux Falls emerged as the perfect backdrop** for their 2024 wedding at the enchanting Blue Haven Barn and Gardens. “Instead of opting for the Twin Cities or California, where our families reside, we chose Sioux Falls because we wanted everyone to experience the charm of our new home,” Dayna explained. This choice led to guests arriving from both coasts and even as far as Switzerland, all curious to explore what Sioux Falls has to offer.

“Many were surprised by the city’s vibrancy and beauty,” she added. “Some had preconceived notions about Sioux Falls being a quaint little town, but they left amazed at the full range of activities available, from boutique shopping downtown to enjoying local breweries.”

A Warm Welcome to Their New Home

Since relocating—**Dayna in 2022 and Will in 2023**—the Cromartys have developed a deep appreciation for the city that has welcomed them with open arms. Dayna’s initial move was fueled by an exciting position at Paulsen, a marketing agency where she could leverage her background in communications and social media, all while engaging with an industry she holds dear: agriculture.

“Growing up in a farming family, I appreciate the hard work of our farmers. My previous experience in Grand Forks involved media and events focused on renewable fuels and drones, which is where I met Will,” she shared.

The Journey of Will Cromarty

Will’s career path is equally fascinating. He transitioned from **Middle Eastern and Islamic studies** to serving in the CIA, specializing in undercover work related to Russian aerospace and satellite systems. “I always had a passion for intelligence work, viewing it as a means to contribute positively to the world,” he explained, reflecting on his journey after the events of September 11, 2001. His multidisciplinary skills led him to meet Dayna at a conference, igniting their professional and personal partnership.

“Eventually, I transitioned to the business sector, helping an aerospace company expand in the Dakotas before deciding to start my own venture,” Will shared. His company, **Kirkwall**, launched in late 2022, centers on safeguarding critical infrastructure. Describing Kirkwall, he remarked, “It’s like a check engine light for vital systems, enabling advanced alerts for issues before any failures can compromise operations.”

The Sioux Falls Advantage: A Thriving Ecosystem for Entrepreneurs

Dayna’s move catalyzed a deep connection with the Sioux Falls community. “I loved that it didn’t feel overwhelming, yet it was definitely larger than Grand Forks. The downtown area is beautiful, and there are countless activities to engage with.” Dayna has found joy in local experiences, including live music at Levitt at the Falls and frequent visits to the Falls Park Farmers Market.

“The community vibe here allows for familiar faces to pop up unexpectedly, which I love,” she added, highlighting how friendly the city feels.

Will echoed her sentiments after moving in 2023, discovering a flourishing environment for businesses and startups. “I owe much to **Startup Sioux Falls** and visionaries like Brienne Maner who champion small businesses,” he shared. The supportive economic atmosphere has allowed him to build a solid internship program through local universities, fostering young talent for Kirkwall.

Building a Life Together in Sioux Falls

The Cromartys are firmly committed to making Sioux Falls their long-term home. They’ve recently shifted from renting a townhouse to searching for a place to plant their roots. With their beloved St. Bernard, Boris, by their side, the couple is excited about the possibilities of family life in this thriving community.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that Sioux Falls has been such a good fit for both our personal and professional lives,” stated **Denise Guzzetta**, Vice President of Talent and Workforce Development for the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. “We are eager to witness Will’s entrepreneurial journey and Dayna’s professional growth, alongside their contributions to our vibrant community.”
