COLLEGE PARK, MD – A Proud Moment for Terps Lacrosse
In an exhilarating announcement from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), three standout players from the Maryland Terrapins have secured their spots on the 2025 All-Region teams. Among the 128 Division I student-athletes honored, Kori Edmondson, Sophie Halus, and Neve O’Ferrall have made waves on the Mid-Atlantic Team, showcasing their exceptional skills and dedication to the sport.
Kori Edmondson: First Team Dynamo
A Season to Remember
Kori Edmondson has rightfully earned her place on the First Team, thanks to a season filled with remarkable achievements. Named the Big Ten Midfielder of the Year, Edmondson has been a driving force behind the Terrapins’ explosive offense. With 65 points to her name, including a staggering 54 goals, her performance has been nothing short of spectacular. Her accolades also include being named Big Ten Midfielder of the Week five times, as well as receiving Midseason First Team All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse.
Building on Success
Returning for her third season in College Park, Edmondson built on her impressive 2024 campaign, where she netted 38 goals and earned Second Team All-Big Ten recognition. Furthermore, her outstanding skill has been acknowledged nationally—she was ranked No. 17 in Inside Lacrosse’s Top 50 Players of 2025. Last summer, she represented Team USA at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women’s U20 Championship in Hong Kong, where she contributed to the team’s perfect 7–0 record, securing a gold medal while earning a place on the All-World Team.
Sophie Halus and Neve O’Ferrall: Defensive Warriors
Key Contributors on Defense
Joining Edmondson on the IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Second Team are Sophie Halus and Neve O’Ferrall, both of whom have played pivotal roles in Maryland’s defensive strategy. Known for their ability to stifle opposing offenses, these players were instrumental during the Big Ten Tournament, particularly in holding Northwestern to just two goals in the championship’s first half.
Sophie Halus: An All-Big Ten Standout
Halus’s contributions did not go unnoticed; she earned a coveted spot on the All-Big Ten Tournament Team for her stellar performance. Her commitment to excellence on defense has been a cornerstone of Maryland’s success this season.
Neve O’Ferrall: The Anchoring Captain
As a junior captain, Neve O’Ferrall has anchored the Terps’ defense with poise and tenacity. Her impressive stats include 30 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers, making her a critical asset in high-pressure situations. Notably, during the Big Ten Tournament, O’Ferrall recorded six ground balls and four caused turnovers, showcasing her skill and determination. Her efforts in the championship game against Northwestern were vital, contributing to the fewest first-half goals allowed by the Wildcats since early 2018, despite being outshot 41-19.
Looking Ahead: All-American Potential
With their outstanding performances this season, Edmondson, Halus, and O’Ferrall are now in contention for national recognition, as they are eligible for the IWLCA All-American teams.
