The Government of Tripura is setting its sights on the international stage, aiming for **global branding** of its highly esteemed pineapple. This fruit is not just a horticultural favorite but is also regarded as one of the state’s most lucrative agricultural products.

The Strategic Meeting: Paving the Way for Global Recognition

In a bid to kickstart this ambitious initiative, a high-level meeting hosted by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) convened on Thursday. Chaired by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, this important meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the Agriculture Minister of Tripura, Ratan Lal Nath, who joined the discussions via video conferencing.

A Visionary Proposal: Focused on Queen and Kew Varieties

An official who participated in the meeting shared exclusive insights with **Tripura Times**: “We extensively discussed a detailed proposal focusing on the global branding of Tripura’s Queen and Kew pineapple varieties.”

An intriguing two-phased, three-year plan has been mapped out. The first phase, spanning 21 months, will prioritize a comprehensive baseline study and extensive market research.

Innovative Approaches: Harnessing Technology for Growth

During this initial phase, cutting-edge technologies like **GIS mapping** and ground-truthing will be employed to gather precise data regarding suitable land for pineapple cultivation. The engagement of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies in processing activities within Tripura is also a pivotal part of the plan.

Promotional Strategies: Going Digital

Promotion will leverage modern digital mediums as a primary strategy. Expect to see engaging social media campaigns, captivating digital advertisements, and eye-catching print media promotions. The brand logo will grace ticket covers and magazines, while **billboards** will be strategically placed in high-traffic areas like airports, marketplaces, and railway stations to maximize visibility.

Second Phase: Testing the Waters Internationally

The second phase, rolling out from the 22nd month onward, will involve shipping pilot consignments to international markets. This crucial step aims to gauge market response and establish vital agreements with export partners and global buyers.

Enhancing Production: Sustainable Techniques and Monitoring

On the production side, advanced technologies will play a crucial role. Employing staggering and CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) technologies will enhance both sustainability and productivity. Additionally, **digital systems** will facilitate real-time monitoring of production efficiency and pest management. Key areas of focus will include developing pack houses, farm gate collection and processing units, as well as establishing cold storage facilities.

As Tripura embarks on this exciting journey to elevate its pineapple to a global brand, the state not only looks to enhance its agricultural economy but also to carve out a niche in the international fruit market. The future looks bright for Tripura’s pineapple industry!
