Uber has unveiled exciting details about its burgeoning partnership with restaurant booking platform OpenTable.

As shared on May 14, 2025, Uber confirmed that OpenTable will begin facilitating reservations directly through the Uber Eats app. This strategic move aims to enhance user convenience and enrich dining choices.

“For us at Uber Eats, restaurants are at the core of what we do,” emphasized Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber’s CEO, in a statement to Bloomberg. “It’s crucial that we help bring additional opportunities to drive revenue, engage existing diners, and reach new ones.”

Khosrowshahi further noted that the conviction behind this partnership lies in the belief that the food delivery domain is too vast for one entity to conquer alone. By cultivating partnerships like the one with OpenTable, Uber aims to leverage combined strengths and provide users with unparalleled dining experiences.

An Exciting Future for Diners

The new feature, dubbed “Dine Out,” will officially launch in September in major cities like London and Sydney, with plans for a phased rollout to various OpenTable-connected restaurants across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the U.K., Ireland, and Australia. Debby Soo, the CEO of OpenTable, revealed that her company initiated this collaboration after recognizing the potential synergy with Uber Eats: “We approached them a few weeks ago, and they got it right away,” she said.

In an exciting development for Uber One members, early next year, the partnership will unveil a feature granting users exclusive access to hard-to-book restaurants. This move not only positions Uber Eats as a premium dining platform but also caters to a market craving unique culinary experiences.

This insight provides a positive outlook for the restaurant industry, which continues to adapt and innovate in response to evolving consumer preferences.

As PYMNTS puts it, “Overall, there’s some resistance to forgoing dining out altogether.” Despite viewing restaurant outings as discretionary, many consumers are keen to explore options and make informed decisions rather than completely eliminate dining experiences.
