**Financial emergencies often strike when you least expect them**. An unplanned expense can quickly escalate into a crisis, jeopardizing your academic journey. Fortunately, the **Emergency Student Loan** program is here to lend a helping hand. It provides eligible students with up to **$500 per academic year** to cover urgent expenses or unexpected financial setbacks that threaten their enrollment.

**Am I Eligible To Apply?**
To qualify for this essential support, ensure you can confidently affirm **YES** to all the criteria listed below. **Eligibility** is determined at the moment you submit your application.
- I am currently enrolled at one of the following UNT locations: **Denton or Frisco**.
- I am at least **18 years old**. If you’re under 18, a parent co-signer is required.
- My level of need is **$500 or less**.
- I am not applying for tuition, fees, course materials, housing/meal plan charges, or unpaid balance.
- I have accepted **all** student-specific financial aid offered (excluding Parent PLUS loans).
- My cumulative UNT GPA is at least a **2.0**. This requirement is waived for first-semester students.
- I have a secured repayment source to meet the repayment deadline.
- I have **no late or unpaid debt obligations**.
**Special Note for Non-U.S. Citizen Students:**
If you’re an international student needing immediate financial assistance, your first step is to fill out the **Student Aid Advocate Form**. After submission, the Student Aid Advocate will assess whether the Emergency Loan Program suits your situation and contact you with the next steps.
**How to Apply**
- Confirm that you meet all eligibility requirements.
- Complete the **emergency loan application**. *After filling out the intake survey, you will be directed to a Microsoft Form. Please log in using your UNT email address.
- Keep an eye on your UNT email account for application updates and decisions (expect a response within **1-2 business days**).
