According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place around 10:30 p.m. as Elijah was driving eastbound on Gibson Road NW near Eagle Crest Road NW. While navigating a curve, his vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree.
Sgt. Tyrone Jenkins noted that the standard speed limit in the area is 55 mph, yet several turns have posted speed limits of only 25 mph. Initial investigations indicate that speed may have played a role in the incident, although no signs of impairment were present.

The crash was discovered early the following morning by an employee from a nearby vineyard, who reported it around 5:43 a.m. The scene was secured and investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office alongside Oregon State Police, who are continuing to assess the speed and timeline of the events leading up to the accident.
