Slushy Theft: A Flavorful Crime Unfolds in Jonesboro

A Sweet Escape Turns Sour

In a peculiar case that has been the talk of Jonesboro, Arkansas, a woman has landed in hot water after allegedly stealing four slushy machines from local stores. Rather than indulging in the icy treats, she aimed to use these colorful contraptions to enhance her food truck offerings.

The Plot Thickens: Details of the Theft

The First Incident: Walmart Woes

On May 19, at the Walmart located on 1911 W Parker Rd, an asset protection employee noticed something amiss. The security devices, known as “spider wire,” were mysteriously absent from two slushy machines. After reviewing video footage, the employee spotted Juquella Kayanna White brazenly disassembling the security devices. What’s more, she approached the register sans the intention to pay, exiting with machines valued at $598.

A Second Attempt

But her escapade didn’t stop there. Just weeks earlier, on May 5, White attempted to pilfer two more slushy machines from another store at 3000 E Highland. Entering without any items in tow, she seized the machines, claiming to be returning them when asked for a receipt by store employees. These machines were priced at $699.98, but White’s clever ruse could not go unnoticed forever.

The Aftermath: Legal Repercussions

Following a Miranda interview, White confessed to her heist, revealing that she intended to use the stolen equipment for slushies at her food truck. Having faced similar theft charges in both 2023 and 2022, her past was not in her favor. Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler noted her previous convictions and the fact that she was already on probation—factors that undoubtedly influenced the current charges.

White is now facing two counts of theft, classified as Class D felonies, with a bond set at $50,000. Should she be released, a GPS monitor will be required to ensure compliance with her probationary terms. Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 31.

A Cautionary Tale for Food Entrepreneurs

While the allure of running a food truck is undoubtedly appealing, this incident serves as a reminder that the culinary dream must be pursued through lawful means. The temptation to cut corners can lead to serious consequences—not just legal troubles, but also a tarnished reputation that can haunt budding entrepreneurs.

As food lovers in Jonesboro await the resolution of this bizarre story, let it serve as a vivid reminder that a flourishing food business should never be built on shady practices. The Slushy Saga Continues

Will Juquella Kayanna White’s dreams of slushy success come crashing down as she faces the law? Only time will tell. With a splash of creativity and a dash of legality, the journey in the food truck scene can still be sweet—if only done right.
